Medication Management
Medication management is a key component of psychiatric care, particularly for individuals dealing with conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and OCD. At Cottonwood Psychiatry, treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation of your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle. From there, medication is carefully selected and adjusted over time to ensure optimal effectiveness with minimal side effects.
Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, care is collaborative. Patients are encouraged to share feedback, ask questions, and take an active role in their treatment plan. The goal is not just symptom relief, but long-term stability and improved quality of life.
Therapy
Therapy, also known as psychotherapy or talk therapy, plays a vital role in helping individuals understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. At Cottonwood Psychiatry, therapy is offered virtually, allowing patients in Castle Pines to engage in meaningful sessions from home. Therapy can help address a wide range of concerns, including stress, trauma, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. Sessions are structured yet flexible, providing a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore personal experiences and build healthier coping strategies:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps patients identify how unhelpful thinking patterns can influence mood and behavior. By developing more constructive ways of thinking, individuals can improve their emotional responses and feel more in control of daily challenges.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is useful for individuals who experience heightened emotional sensitivity. It focuses on building practical skills such as mindfulness, emotional balance, and effective communication to better navigate stressful situations.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) encourages patients to stop struggling against difficult thoughts and instead focus on taking meaningful action. This approach supports living in alignment with personal values, even in the presence of discomfort.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy helps uncover deeper emotional patterns that may stem from past experiences. By bringing these patterns into awareness, patients can better understand themselves and make lasting changes in how they relate to others and the world around them.
